Historical Overview

A German submachine gun developed by H&K in the mid-1990s as a cheaper, lighter successor to the MP5, the UMP was designed around the heavier .45 ACP cartridge for greater stopping power at close range. With a folding stock, polymer frame, and a slower rate of fire than most SMGs, it was built for controlled, deliberate shooting rather than all-out spray. In CS2, that identity carries over perfectly — lower fire rate than other SMGs, but with the highest damage per bullet in its class and armor penetration that punches well above its $1200 price tag, making it one of the strongest force-buy weapons in the game.
