Tec-9
Historical Overview
The in-game TEC-9 is based on the Intratec TEC-9 (specifically resembling the closed-bolt TEC-9 or TEC-DC9 variants), an American blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol introduced in 1984. Designed by Swedish engineer George Kellgren, it was built using a mix of stamped steel and inexpensive molded polymers, chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum. It was originally derived from a Swedish military submachine gun concept (the Interdynamic MP-9) but was adapted for the civilian market in the US. In reality, the weapon fed from large-capacity box magazines ranging from 10 to 50 rounds, or even a 72-round drum. Due to its low cost, large capacity, and intimidating appearance, the real TEC-9 gained significant notoriety in the 1990s, becoming heavily associated with organized crime and high-profile incidents like the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.
