PP-Bizon
Historical Overview
The in-game PP-Bizon is based on the real-world PP-19 Bizon (Пистолет-пулемет Бизон), a Russian submachine gun developed in 1993 by Izhmash. It was designed by a team led by Viktor Kalashnikov (son of Mikhail Kalashnikov, creator of the AK-47) and Alexi Dragunov (son of Evgeny Dragunov, creator of the SVD sniper rifle) at the request of the Russian Interior Ministry (MVD) for use by counter-terrorist and law enforcement units.
The Bizon's design is heavily based on the AKS-74U assault rifle, sharing about 60% parts commonality, which makes it very familiar to operators trained on the Kalashnikov platform. Its most defining feature is its high-capacity helical-feed magazine located under the barrel, which typically holds 64 rounds of 9×18mm Makarov ammunition (though variants exist for 9×19mm Parabellum, 7.62×25mm Tokarev, and .380 ACP). This unusual magazine design keeps the weapon compact and highly concealable while providing massive sustained firepower, perfectly mirroring its in-game reputation as a high-capacity, low-damage SMG built for continuous firing in close quarters.
