Negev
Historical Overview
The Negev in Counter-Strike is based on the real-world IWI Negev (Israel Weapon Industries Negev), an Israeli-made light machine gun developed in the 1990s as the standard squad automatic weapon of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The Negev was developed by Israel Military Industries (later IWI) in the early 1990s to replace the aging FN MAG general-purpose machine gun in the light support role. It was officially adopted by the IDF in 1997. The name "Negev" refers to the arid desert region in southern Israel. The weapon was designed with desert warfare in mind, featuring a gas-operated system highly resistant to sand and dust contamination.
