Five-SeveN

Historical Overview

The in-game Five-SeveN is based on the real-world FN Five-seveN, a semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. It was introduced in 1998 as a companion sidearm to the P90 submachine gun, and both weapons chamber the proprietary 5.7×28mm cartridge. This small-caliber, high-velocity round gives the pistol its name and is designed to defeat body armor (specifically CRISAT vests) while maintaining a flat trajectory and producing roughly 30% less recoil than a standard 9×19mm cartridge. Because of the cartridge's small diameter, the Five-seveN holds 20 rounds in a flush-fitting magazine. Its extensive use of polymers in both the frame and the slide cover makes it exceptionally lightweight (weighing just 21 oz or 1.3 lbs unloaded)
