The Biggest Losers
Cloud9The American roster surprised many at the Group B qualifier in Europe. After the first three matches, the team was 2:1 (they advance to the major after three wins). The “Clouds” had to win one of the two remaining matches, but they lost both. Even after 2:3, Cloud9 still had a chance to participate in the main tournament of the year. They needed to win three matches in the Last Chance Qualifier. While the first two games went without any problems, everything went wrong in the decisive one: leading 15:9 on the first map, they lost it with a score of 15:19, and then they no longer had enough strength for the second.
BIG
Berlin International Gaming performed identically to Cloud9. The only difference is that they lost to the “clouds” in the second match for the last slot in the major.
Astralis
The once great CS:GO team will not participate in the third major in a row. Substitutions of players and coach do not help the Danes find their game.
Spirit
It was a surprise to many that the “dragons” lost all three matches in the qualifiers and were among the first to fly home. It is especially noteworthy that the team reached the quarterfinals and took 3-4th place in the last two Major tournaments.
Virtus.Pro
No one could even imagine that last year’s winners of the IEM Rio Major would perform at the RMR tournament in such a way. Having won the first match, the roster lost all three subsequent ones and ended its journey to Paris.
Who to expect at the Major?
Many are already accustomed to seeing Na’Vi, Heroic, Vitality, Furia, Liquid and other famous teams at the Majors. Therefore, we would like to highlight those who amazed the audience at the qualifiers.
● Monte. The team was formed only in mid-2022 and was never considered a contender for being among the best. But this qualifier changed a lot.
The roster has become a serious threat to top organizations. On its way to the Major, it beat Cloud9, ENCE and put up a fight with Heroic.
● FORZE. Having lost the first match in a crushing manner (5:16), the Jerry team has pulled itself together and will now find itself at its first Major tournament. In the decisive match for the passage further, the Russian players beat another CIS team, Aurora (2:0), and are already buying tickets to Paris.
● Into the Breach. This European stack, like all those mentioned here, has never played in a major. Before the start of the qualifiers, hardly anyone could have thought that Into the Breach would put up a fight with Na’Vi, beat Virtus.Pro and the rest, and get to the Legends stage.
● 9INE. Perhaps someone assumed that the Poles would be able to qualify for the main tournament of the year. But no one thought it would be like this. The roster defeated G2, BIG, and Vitality on its way.
